The Schwartz Family Company has been instrumental in the development of two of Sydney’s newest international hotels – Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour and Four Points by Sheraton Sydney Central Park, as well as growing an extensive regional hotel portfolio.
“My hotels cover a wide geography – NSW, the ACT, Victoria and Queensland and in both city and regional areas and membership of AAOA will help ensure that these hotels enjoy the best operating conditions in their respective markets,” said Dr Schwartz.
“Our industry faces a myriad of issues currently and given that tourism and hospitality is one of the strongest growth sectors of the economy, it is important that we have a united and concerted voice so that our industry's contribution is both recognised and supported."
Dean Long, CEO AAoA, congratulated Dr Schwartz on his vision and leadership.
“Dr Jerry Schwartz has demonstrated his support of the accommodation sector through his extensive investment in hotels and employment. His membership is welcome recognition of the AAoA’s commitment to ensuring the industry’s progression and further development at a time of significant growth.” said Mr Long.
The accommodation sector is a key driver for the tourism industry, with $8.6 billion directly contributed in GVA in the 2017–18 year and 86,000 people directly employed in the sector.
