Developer Meriton has unveiled plans for a new five-star hotel in Canberra.
Apartment developer Meriton has set its sights on the nation's capital for its next project, announcing plans for five-star hotel in Canberra.
Part of the Meriton Suites brand, the 16-storey hotel will be build at 40 Allara Street near Canberra Central.
According to the pre-development application, the hotel will comprise about 250 rooms, with suites spread throughout levels 1-14.

One-bedroom suites will make up about 70 per cent of the rooms, while there will also be two-bedroom suites and larger rooms on the upper floors.
Other amenities will include a pool, gym and juice bar on the top level, while the ground level will feature commercial and retail space.
Meriton Suites Group General Manager Matthew Thomas told WILLIAMS MEDIA that Canberra's position between Sydney and Melbourne made it "the next logical step" in the company's national expansion plan.
"Once we secured a site for our first hotel in Melbourne we actively started looking to secure a Canberra location," he said.
"Canberra’s tourist attractions and events, draw many domestic travelers from around Australia, many of whom are familiar with our hotel brand”.
Architects Fender Katsalidis have been commissioned to design the project.
