Melbourne developer Contra Constructions has submitted a proposal to City of Greater Geelong Council for a new resort on the Bellarine Peninsula.
A new resort could be set to transform Victoria's south-east peninsula, after plans for a "large complex" were submitted to council for approval.
Developed through Contra Constructions, the Portarlington Resort would feature accommodation rooms, conference and event facilities including a ball room, a restaurant, bar, pools, gymnasium, spas and a sauna.
Contra Constructions says if approved, construction of the resort would take about 30 months and create 400 direct and indirect jobs.

The main body of the building will be situated at the Pigdon Street end of the site, with pools and wellness facilities at the northern end.
Villa units will be located on the eastern slope of the site.
The developer says the resort delivers on the City of Greater Geelong’s "strategic economic priority for a high quality, integrated tourist resort, with restaurant, conference, and wellness facilities", as stated in Tourism Development Plan Final Report 2019-22.
According to the developer's website, the building has also been designed to have a minimal impact on the landscape, and will “not be very visible from the main road”.
