Hotel Verge has taken the next step towards welcoming guests with the completion of the first room.
The Hotel Verge development in Launceston is approaching the final stages of construction with the completion of the first room.
Scheduled to open in May, the 86-room hotel has been taking shape next to Launceston's CBD throughout the past 12 months, with the end product set to showcase a contemporary design influenced by precinct’s early industrial heritage.
General Manager Kate Bucknell told WILLIAMS MEDIA the hotel was on track to potentially take bookings "within the next week".
"We're in the process of working out what date we will be selling rooms from," she said.
"The product we have is exceptional, so we want to make sure we open well with everything completed.
"The look and feel of the property is industrial luxe with a dark and moody vibe, which I think will be a very interesting offering for Launceston."

Developed through Stay Tasmania, Hotel Verge is being built on part of a former Launceston Council Carpark on Cimitiere Street near a host of attractions, including City Park Launceston and the “monkeys”, UTAS Stadium, University of Tasmania Inveresk Campus, Queen Victoria Museum, Boags Brewery, Launceston Aquatic Centre, and Harvest Market Launceston.
Features include spacious, well-appointed hotel rooms, a large function room, boardroom, gym and guest laundry, as well as the Diverge in-house restaurant.
Ms Bucknell said the hotel was well-positioned to function in both a business and leisure capacity.
"It's a bespoke property in an amazing location," she said.
"The area is kind of in the CBD but also in a really hip part of the city, where all the best bits of the town are on your doorstep."
