In a statement from Victoria Tourism Industry Council Chief Executive Felicia Mariani the Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) welcomes today’s announcement by Premier Daniel Andrews plan to open pubs restaurant and cafe dining.
The Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) welcomes today’s announcement by Premier Daniel Andrews on the reopening of the state’s hospitality industry.
As a result of the low number of cases identified from the recent testing blitz, from 1 June, Victoria’s cafes, restaurants and the dining areas of pubs will be able to welcome 20 patrons back to their establishments. From 22 June, that will increase to 50 patrons, and from mid-July, up to 100 patrons will be allowed at these venues.

While last week our state was behind the easing of restrictions planned in other states and territories, this morning we have moved to one of the most progressive states in this regard.
VTIC has engaged extensively with Government over the past week on these issues and we’re thrilled that the Andrews Government has seen a pathway to respond so positively.
This is wonderful news for our hospitality industry and one that VTIC is thrilled the Premier has reconsidered in light of our testing outcomes.
Obviously, all of this movement will be subject to the advice of the Chief Medical Officer and will require all of us to follow the rules and comply with guidelines to ensure this progression is realised.
This is a terrific first step to the reanimation of Victoria’s tourism industry and VTIC looks forward to working with Government to ensure our industry is well prepared with regard to their obligations and requirements.
