Gold Coast institution Robina Pavillion has welcomed dine-in customers for the first time in months this week as it eases back into business following COVID-19 restrictions.
An easing of the dining restrictions for pubs has already drawn an enthusiastic response for one Gold Coast watering hole, with the Robina Pavillion set to be filled to capacity for the next few Fridays after opening this week.
As one of the first venues of its kind to open back up, restaurant sittings for the venue have been booked out weeks in advance.
General Manager Damien Stephen, said the slight easing the restrictions brought hope for larger hospitality venues, allowing staff to return to work and offering some much needed community revival.
“Pubs are really fundamental to bringing a sense of normality back. The reopening is providing a significant boost to morale, allowing 6 more staff to resume employment, starting work on new menus and exciting specials,” he said.

“Although the current cap of 10 persons is uncommercial, the value that reopening brings not just our staff but the community too, takes priority. Especially when considering the significant psychological effects that isolation has had on people.
The JobKeeper package has been “instrumental” to Robina Pavilion’s quick response, ensuring a core level of staff was maintained during the crisis, ready to pivot and adapt to the fast moving changes.
Mr Stephen said the response so far from customers had "been overwhelming".
"We’ve already booked out every Friday until mid-June, which is when we hope to increase capacity to 20 people, and our Day Bed packages are gaining traction too," he said.
"It’s created a great sense of security for us."
