Saracen Porperties Development Director Jason Potalivo said Saracen Properties and Security Capital Australia both had a long Margaret River and the South West region.
"The opportunity to partner with Marriott to develop a world class Westin Resort within the heart of the Margaret River region is an opportunity just too good to pass up," he said.
“Despite the tourism industry currently going through the toughest of times right now, we know it will come roaring back and the appeal of visiting unique natural regions like Margaret River and the South West will be greater than it ever was.”

Located on the southern headland of Gnarabup Beach, the resort will feature uninterrupted views over the Indian Ocean and one of Western Australia’s most dramatic coastlines featuring numerous world class surf breaks.
When opened, it is expected to feature 120 guestrooms, including 45 spacious suites, featuring sweeping views, as well as the iconic Heavenly® Bed and invigorating Heavenly® Bath experience.
Marriott International Senior Director, Hotel Development, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Richard Crawford, said the planned resort was expected to "set a new benchmark for hospitality excellence" when opened .
"The region is recognized the world over for its stunning beaches, idyllic climate, tourist trails, plus fine food and wine. These appeals attract more than three million visitors per annum to Western Australia’s South West region," he said.
“The Westin brand is renowned as a leader in hospitality and wellness, with more than 230 leading hotels and resorts across the globe.
"We are very confident that this trusted name will elevate the profile and appeal of Margaret River for holiday makers, corporate getaways and special events.”

Features of the Westin Margaret River Resort & Spa include three on-site dining venues will provide a variety of culinary options, as well as a range of leisure facilities such as brand’s signature Westin WORKOUT® fitness studio, a resort-style outdoor swimming pool and the Heavenly® Spa by Westin.
In addition to the health club, Run Westin program will be in place to take guests on a scenic run along numerous trails in the Margaret River region and the unspoilt strip of golden sand.
The hotel will also boast more than 400 square meters of meeting and event space with pre-function area and a separate entrance.
Marriott International Area Vice President for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, Sean Hunt, said the resort was designed to complement the Westin Perth located in the Perth CBD, providing the "perfect itinerary" for travellers.
“Expanding the Westin brand into the Margaret River region is important strategically, as the city is enjoying great growth and is not showing any signs of slowing down," he said.
"Visitor numbers are at a record high and are on track to increase by 5.1 percent in the next ten years as people seek out the beautiful beaches, world-renowned wineries and beautiful scenery that the South West Region is famed for,” he said.

The project is expected to create local opportunities with more than 300 jobs on and off-site during construction.
Once the Westin Margaret River Resort and Spa is operational it will generate over 100 hotel jobs and provide ongoing benefit to local service providers through sourcing of premium local produce.
CBRE’s Head of Capital Markets for Western Australia, Aaron Desange said the announcement was particularly welcomed in the current climate.
“The Westin Margaret River Resort & Spa will be a major drawcard for the South West region and will further boost Margaret River’s presence on the international stage. More than 15 regional and international operators bid for this opportunity, which underlines the scarcity of five-star resort development opportunities in thriving regional Australian leisure markets,” he said
“Importantly, this announcement will increase the region’s luxury tourism appeal, which will help contribute to injecting much-needed revenue back into our state after particularly challenging economic times.”
