The Royal Hotel Motel in Scone has been sold Rodney "Ned" Kelly for an undisclosed amount in a deal negotiated by JLL Hotels and Hospitality Vice President Kate MacDonald, in conjunction with MacCullum Inglis.
Hotel industry Rodney “Ned” Kelly has expanded his regional pub portfolio with the purchase of the Royal Hotel Motel in Scone.
Occupying a generous 2,904 square metre corner block, the venue includes 10 well-presented motel suites, 9 GMEs and 17 first floor pub rooms.
Mr Kelly said Royal had built a reputation as "the best pub in town".
"It has all the bones of a fantastic country pub and I’m excited to have the opportunity to take her there again," he said.
At a glance:
Scone is located 280 kilometres from Sydney and 150 kilometres from Newcastle and is known as the equine capital of NSW, reportedly the second largest horse breeding area in the world.
There are almost 5,000 residents in Scone and an abundance of infrastructure development in and around the town, demonstrating its continued growth.
Having enjoyed more than 15 years in this local favourite, the vendor turned to Scone stock and station agents MacCallum Inglis to divest his beloved asset.
JLL Vice President Kate MacDonald worked seamlessly in conjunction with MacCallum Inglis in order to bring an experienced and qualified purchaser to the table and negotiate a successful outcome for both parties.
Ms MacDonald credited the "experience and reach" of the JLL Hotels for helping to bring about a positive result, despite the uncertain conditions within the market.
“It is satisfying to see Ned head back into Scone, where he once operated the Belmore Hotel," he said.
"The town has seen some promising growth since then, and I am confident that the town will greatly benefit from having an operator such as Ned back in the fold.”
