As Australians get back out and explore our country over summer, leading hotel franchise group Choice Hotels Asia-Pac is recognising its top performers in its annual and highly popular Gold Awards.

Celebrating great customer service and exceptional guest experiences at properties from Melbourne to Mackay, and many places in between, the 2020 Gold Award winners list is sure to be a must-read for Australians booking holidays in 2021.

It recognises the top-performing franchisees from across the region, with the winners of the Gold Awards making up the short-list for the Hotel of the Year award.

The Hotel of the Year Awards are the group’s prestigious annual awards recognising outstanding operators across its five brands: Ascend Hotel Collection, Clarion, Quality, Comfort and Econo Lodge.

Trent Fraser, Chief Executive Officer at Choice Hotels Asia-Pac, said all hotel operators this year deserved acknowledgement for the challenges they had overcome and the innovation they applied throughout the year.

“It is wonderful to recognise our top operators this year through our Gold Awards. These franchisees have applied great resilience and innovation to deliver outstanding service and create memorable experiences for their guests, despite the unprecedented challenges they faced,” he said.

“We commend all of those within the Choice Hotels network who have overcome challenging odds over the last 12 months, and have shown great resilience and positivity towards the recovery effort.

“We hope the 2020 Awards list inspires more Australians to get out, holiday and explore our regions, supporting local economies and jobs that have been impacted by the pandemic.”

The Choice Hotels Awards are measured on a ‘likelihood to recommend’ metric calculated on direct and verified customer feedback, combined with franchisee engagement in Choice Hotels Asia-Pac programs and initiatives such as the Choice Privileges loyalty program, corporate social responsibility partnerships, and numerous marketing promotions throughout the year. The nominees are judged by a panel from the Choice Hotels Asia-Pac executive team.

Each property named as the ‘Hotel of the Year’ for their brand goes into the running for the Choice Hotels International Hotel of the Year awards, to be announced later in the year.
