Long Island is understood to have been sold for $20m to a Sydney based hotel group. The island was sold via Hayley Manvell and Wayne Bunz of CBRE Hotels in an Expressions of Interest campaign.The buyer is expected to do a significant redevelopment into an upscale resort.

Hayley Manvell told WILLIAMS MEDIA, “Australia’s tourism industry is going through a renaissance, and the Whitsundays region has certainly been a key beneficiary of the rebound in domestic travel, a trend which will only become stronger in future”.

Wayne Bunz told WILLIAMS MEDIA, “Astute investors are more than ever seeing the incredible opportunity that Australia’s tourism industry offers, as domestic tourism will continue to be strong and international travel will have an incredible rebound when the international borders reopen”.

"The level of enquiry we are seeing for regional and leisure assets right now is at unprecedented levels, it is also particularly encouraging to see domestic capital shifting out of their key markets, predominantly Sydney and Melbourne, and into other destinations that in the past they may not normally have had interest in”, said Mr Bunz.
