Marriott International’s suite of properties across Australia and the Pacific received 15 wins and commendations in the recent highly competitive hotel and accommodation industry awards honouring the ‘best of the best’ – The Australian Hotels Association (AHA) National Awards for Excellence and the HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence.

The Tasman – A Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart was awarded the Overall Hotel of the Year – Accommodation Division and The Ritz Carlton, Perth winner of the Deluxe Accommodation category along with JW Marriott Gold Coast winning the Best Redeveloped Hotel category at the AHA National Awards for Excellence, on Monday evening 28 November.

The Tasman was also named the Best New Hotel at the HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellenceand the Best Hotel in Australasia in the highly competitive Conde Nast Readers’ Choice Awards announced in October.

At the HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence, held on Friday 25 November, Marriott International’s Australian and Fiji properties were recognised across 12 categories. The highly competitive HM Awards received more than 1,500 nominations across 50 categories.

Marriott International properties in Australia received the following awards and commendations at the HM Awards: 

• The Tasman, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart was the joint winner in the New Hotel category, and was highly commended for Mary Mary in the Hotel Bar category
• Marriott Bonvoy Partners with Tennis Australia received highly commended in the Innovative Collaboration category
• Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands received highly commended in the Upper-Upscale Hotel category
• Brisbane Marriott Hotel received highly commended in the Business Hotel category
• JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa was highly commended in the Meetings and Conferencing Category

Marriott International’s exceptional talent also received commendations for their outstanding work in the following areas:

• Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific (excluding China) Marriott International was highly commended in the Asia-Pacific Hotelier category
• Neeraj Chadha, Multi Property Vice President of Fiji, Samoa and New Caledonia & General Manager Sheraton and Westin Resorts Fiji was highly commended in the South Pacific General Manager category
• Sally Yuen, Cluster Marketing Executive, Marriott International Fiji was highly commended in the Communications Associate category.
• Sumeet Raj, Cluster Purchasing Manager at Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort was highly commended in the Finance Associate category.
• Michael Fletcher, Director of Sales from W Melbourne was highly commended in the Sales and Marketing Associate category
• Carla Acosta, from Pier One Sydney Harbour Autograph Collection was highly commended in theHousekeeper category
