La Brasserie, a French restaurant, and Whale Club, an exclusive private members' club, both opened in the first quarter and were designed by Steve Leung Hospitality Ltd. (SLH), a brand of the award-winning Steve Leung Design Group (SLD). Located on Lyndhurst Terrace in the bustling Soho area of Central, the neighborhood is perfect for people to gather, dine, and relax before or after work, as well as for young professionals to host corporate or private events. Two projects spread across two floors in the same building, each level offers a different and distinctive experience. The ground floor is home to La Brasserie, a community-oriented French restaurant focusing on authentic French cuisine. Tucked away on the first floor is the Whale Club, an exclusive private members’ club that serves as a community of like-minded individuals who are leaders and pioneers in their professions, as well as enthusiasts and connoisseurs of the finer things in life.
La Brasserie
Upon entering the ground floor, the guests can immediately experience the inviting ambience of La Brasserie, which celebrates to the timeless charm of Parisian brasserie and their allure for observing pedestrians. An outdoor terrace, conveniently situated beside the double glass doors, is designed to accommodate al fresco dining. The front exterior is adorned with a classic French navy-blue hue, enhanced by sleek brass signage and subtle wall sconces. The blue and white rattan chairs add a tasteful touch, paying homage to the beloved French café culture. The navy blue color scheme extends seamlessly from the façade to the interior, creating a cohesive and harmonious aesthetic throughout the space.
The interior of La Brasserie is thoughtfully divided into a casual bar area at the front and a main dining area at the rear. The bar area features black and white mosaic floor tiles, while herringbone timber floor tiles define the main dining area, clearly distinguishing the two spaces. The front area is ideal for a casual drink or snack, while the rear area is suitable for a more substantial meal. Anchoring the front area is a long, bronze-looking bar with a reconstituted white Calacatta top, set beneath a stepped ceiling profile hand-finished with special paint.
The main dining area is delineated from the bar area with timber floor tiles in a traditional herringbone pattern. To highlight the exquisite culinary offerings featured on the menu, the seafood and pastry counters offer captivating demonstrations of their freshly sourced produce. The counters are designed with glass and brass metal, and a reconstituted stone countertop for durability. Each seating arrangement is thoughtfully placed to provide a prime view of the culinary action, whether in cozy booths along the perimeter or in the open area at the center. The warm gray cove ceiling, gray wallcovering, and neutral Venetian blinds contrast the dark blue wall panels, creating a balanced and inviting atmosphere.
