Slated for opening December 2021, Moxy Perth marks the second signed Moxy hotel in Australia, following the announcement of Moxy Melbourne South Yarra in early 2019
Moxy Hotels, Marriott International’s playful, experiential hotel brand is set to expand its footprint in Australia, with the signing of its second hotel, Moxy Perth, scheduled to open in December 2021.
Owned by 195 Hay Street Pty Ltd as trustee for 195 Hay Street Unit Trust, a consortium of local West Australian business people, the standalone new build hotel is anticipated to commence construction in October 2019. Upon opening, the 150-room Moxy Perth (shown left) will redefine Perth’s hospitality scene and offer a new experience for socially extroverted, curious and energectic global travellers to the vibrant waterfront city.
“Moxy’s global footprint has surged to 44 distinctive hotels, with another 100 in the pipeline and we are thrilled to be extending the brand further in Australia,” said Richard Crawford, Senior Director Development, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Marriott International. “Moxy Perth will be an exciting addition to Perth’s accommodation landscape, taking Marriott International’s presence in Perth to beyond 1,200 hotel rooms when it joins The Westin Perth, Four Points by Sheraton Perth, Aloft Perth and The Ritz-Carlton, Perth, which is set to open later in 2019.”
Moxy Perth will be located at 195 Hay Street, within walking distance of the buzzing bars and restaurants of the city’s CBD and nearby to attractions like the WACA Ground, Swan River and Herrison Island. Each of its 150 guestrooms will feature minimalist yet multifinctional design, for guests to feel at home. Moxy Perth will also feature several of the Moxy brand’s cheeky lifestyle touches: the Moxy Bar, where guests can check in over a fresh cocktail or socialise late into the night; Moxy Pickups, Moxy’s 24/7 self-service grab-and-go concept serving everything from cereal to noodles, soups and wraps; the Moxy Living Room, a communal space for guests and locals to socialise with their friends and meet new ones; plus a fully equipped fitness centre for guests to keep active. Plug in points and furiously fast and free WiFi will also be available throughout the hotel.
“Moxy is an adventurous, fun and bold response to the desires of today’s travellers, who are seeking out a lifestyle and experience, rather than just a hotel room,” said Sean Hunt, Area Vice President, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, Marriott International. “This is the second Moxy hotel signed in Australia in 2019 alone, showing the need for lifestyle hotels in the market. Moxy Perth will be a vibrant addition to the city of Perth, which, with its waterfront location and thriving calendar of events continues to attract urban travellers from across Australia and the world.”
Moxy Perth is the second signing in Australia for the Moxy brand this year, following the January 2019 announcement of Moxy Melbourne South Yarra, a 180-room new-build hotel slated to open in July 2021. It joins a global portfolio of Moxy brand hotels throughout Europe, North America and Asia. The brand, which is designed for the next generation of traveller, reimagines the traditional hotel experience, allowing guests to play, work and connect at an affordable price point, in the liveliest cities around the world. With the heart of a boutique hotel and a thirst for adventure, the Moxy experience is designed to give guests everything they want and nothing they don’t.
