Construction of QT Auckland has resumed following a brief hiatus, with the 150-room hotel set to open later this year.
Located at 4 Viaduct Harbour Avenue, QT Auckland will be the tenth QT Hotel and the third in New Zealand, joining QT Wellington and QT Queenstown.
The project is being developed by EVENT Hotels and Resorts, in conjunction with Russell Property Group and Lockwood Property Group.
At a glance:
- QT Hotels and Resorts has announced that QT Auckland is on track to open in the fourth quarter of this year.
- Construction on the project was briefly put on hold as a result of COVID-19, but now teams have returned to site.
- The project will transform the former Viaduct Harbour office building into a 150-room hotel.
Work on the former office building was briefly put on hold as part of COVID-19 lockdown, before Dominion Interiors returned to the site at Alert Level 3, with teams operating under Ministry of Health guidelines for distancing, cleaning and contact tracing.
EVENT Hotels and Resorts New Zealand General Manager of Operations, Simon White said safety and wellbeing was "the number one priority" as construction got back underway.

“QT Auckland is on track to open its doors later this year, despite the unprecedented challenges presented by COVID-19," he said.
"While we took a brief pause in construction, development is now well underway to bring QT’s bold and creatively-charged hospitality to Viaduct Harbour in 2020 as planned,”
While the details of designer Nic Graham’s plans are still under wraps, QT Auckland is expected to reflect its harbourside locale and connect to the local community through partnerships and alignments in arts, music and fashion.
In March, QT Hotels and Resorts announced Doron Whaite as General Manager for the hotel.
