Salter Brothers is pleased to announce the acquisition of Kingsford The Barossa, in South Australia. This transaction is another asset for the Salter Brothers’ Retreat Fund and their first retreat in South Australia.
Built in 1856, Kingsford The Barossa is a picturesque venue that has been lovingly restored to become one of Australia’s finest luxury retreats. The iconic 225-acre property is set on the edge of the breathtaking wine country of South Australia, within a 45 minute drive of Adelaide.
Once home to a wealthy nineteenth-century pastoralist, Kingsford consists of 16-suites, Orleana restaurant and extensive conference facilities. The property recently re-opened after a two year, multi-million dollar redevelopment by owners Leanne and Stefan Ahrens and was formerly the location of Channel 9’s McLeod's Daughters. The retreat will be managed by Salter Brothers Hospitality.
Speaking about the transaction, Paul Salter, Managing Director of Salter Brothers, said “We are delighted to acquire this beautiful property, which will complement our existing portfolio of boutique luxury hotels and retreats.”
“We look forward to the opportunity to put Salter Brothers touches on a premium asset, with plans to expand the property, allowing more guests to experience this amazing piece of South Australian heritage, in the surrounds of the Barossa.”
Owners Stefan and Leanne Ahrens commented “We are proud of what we have built at Kingsford The Barossa and look forward to seeing the property become a significant Australian tourism destination under Salter Brothers Hospitality management and their luxury lifestyle brands Spicers Retreats and Ardour Hotels & Estates. We are excited for the property to really go to the next level under Salter’s ownership.”
