Continuing the trend of combining transport and development, Doma Group is developing the Little National Hotel in Sydney, which will be designed by Bates Smart Architects.
Canberra-based Doma Group is developing the new Little National Hotel, set to be built over Sydney’s Wynyard Station.
The $120 million project is part of the city’s trend of combining transport and development, according to the designers of the hotel, Bates Smart Architects, and will use the airspace above the Wynyard Walk entry.
"We had been looking for a Little National Hotel site for a number of years in Sydney, but identified this prime location as being perfect to suit the needs of our guests," Doma Group's general manager for development Gavin Edgar said. "This innovative approach to hotel design is being watched with intense interest by international hotel operators and owners."
Bates Smart director Guy Lake said "Building over transport presents many opportunities to innovate, including trying new solutions like timber construction, to produce future-focused architecture that improves the city and daily life."
