The business of Whitianga Hotel and Salt Restaurant and Bar changed hands in July this year having been negotiated by Resort Brokers New Zealand.
The business is well segmented having multiple income streams but principally the bar trade and the successful Salt Restaurant. The location of this business, fronting onto the marine, has been an important ingredient in its past success.
The bar trade is broken into bar food, pokie machines, alcohol and entertainment – there is also a very large and well laid out garden bar. The Salt restaurant has developed an enviable name over the years and is the eating place of choice for locals and visitors alike. Rated 9 out of 40 restaurants in Whitianga by TripAdvisor.
Upstairs there are 10 hotel rooms (mostly ensuited) which are in tidy condition but represent a prime area for the new owner to look at changing the nature of the revenue streams. The sale was for the business only with the land and buildings remaining in the hands of a long time owner.
The second and more recent sale was the freehold going concern (land, buildings and business) of Frankies Sports Bar and Grill at 37 Albert Street in Whitianga.
Located on the main street this bar has been a favourite of many locals and visitors alike for decades. Two couples have purchased this business and property and intend to share the workload in running the operation. Having pokies, TAB, bar and grill Frankies has it all. Although well managed in the past the new owners intend to capitalise on the success and make changes to improve the guest experience.
