Barry Fleischmann, Neville Smith and Angelo Castorina from Colliers International on behalf of Nonchalon Pty Ltd, offer for sale the freehold investment of this well-known resort located at 166 Woolcock Street in Townsville, Queensland.
Mercure Hotel Townsville, a 4-star tropical resort set on 4.33ha of lakeside land just minutes from Townsville CBD, is on the market for sale with development potential.
The Mercure brand is part of AccorHotels, the internationally renowned hospitality company, who are currently the largest hotel group in Australia, with 1 in 12 Australians holding loyalty membership in Le Club. Mercure Townsville is the only Accor affiliated hotel in the Townsville market.
On behalf of the owners, Nonchalon Pty Ltd, Barry Fleischmann, Neville Smith and Angelo Castorina from Colliers International are marketing the offering via an Expression of Interest campaign which closes Thursday 3rd October at 4pm.
“This significant offering is a great opportunity for the new owner to continue the hotel management agreement with AccorHotels as well as potentially expand the resort,” said Mr Fleischmann.
“A development approval was previously granted for a multi dwelling development on the site consisting of 170 additional apartments comprising one, two and three bedroom configurations.
“The new owner is also set to benefit from the improving Townsville economy which is spurred on by the approval of the Adani Carmichael Mine and infrastructure projects such as the regional stadium which is currently under construction, as well as the creation of the Technology Precinct in the Townsville CBD.”
Mr Smith said that Townsville Airport which is only 2km from the hotel has links to major eastern seaboard cities, as well as Darwin, Bali and some regional inland towns, with passenger movements growing year-on-year for the past four years.
“In the 2018 calendar year, the airport handled approximately 1.6 million passenger movements, of which 16,187 were international. Intrastate travel continues to account for the majority (80%) of the region’s domestic market and both intrastate (up 32.2% to a record 1.1m visitors) and interstate (up 31.0% to a record 290,000) visitation increased in the year ending March 2019.”
“Mercure Townsville is uniquely set on Lake Curralea in the centre of Townsville, and being in proximity to the Townsville airport, it has been an ideal choice for corporate functions, weddings and social gatherings,” said Mr Castorina. “The hotel offers award-winning event and conferencing facilities for up to 300 guests.”
The hotel which is located at 166-194 Woolcock Street in Townsville comprises 202 guest rooms and resort style facilities such as tennis and basketball courts, al fresco dining bar and restaurant, the lagoon style pool and spa, all set within tropical gardens. The hotel accommodation includes deluxe, superior and premium rooms offering in-room dining, internet access, mini-bars and flat screen televisions. Each room has views of the hotel's tropical gardens, resort pool or the lake.
