Leonard Bongiovanni of Manenti Quinlan & Associates, together with Deane Moore of Moore and Moore Real Estate, announced the Imperial Hotel sold to Hunt Hospitality, a Newcastle-based hospitality management firm.
Manenti Quinlan & Associates, in conjunction with Moore and Moore Real Estate, sold the Imperial Hotel to the Imperial Hospitality Group owner back in 2017. This time, both companies were again entrusted with the discreet off-market sale of the hotel to Hunt Hospitality.
Built in 1851, the Imperial Hotel was established in the early days when goods were still delivered via small barges and water vessels plying the Hunter River.
The hotel has stood the test of time, serving several generations of local guests and out of towners looking for a fun and relaxing venue and accommodations.
Beginning in 1994, the Imperial Hotel featured Shenanigans, Maitland’s go-to Irish pub. It had a timber interior, a predominantly red and green colour scheme, and featured the odd shamrock or two.
However, the previous owners planned for a major renovation that required changing the entire look of the building from the inside out. The hotel thus underwent an extensive refurbishment and successfully transformed the place, which had an older Irish pub look, into a modern art deco establishment featuring contemporary and spacious interiors, whilst keeping the overall ambience as relaxing, comfortable, warm, and friendly.
The renovation saw the Imperial Hotel titled ‘Best Redeveloped Pub and Best Pub Style Accommodation’ in the NSW Australian Hotels Association’s Awards for Excellence.
The Imperial joins the Hunt fleet, which include The Kent, The Duke, Seabreeze Hotel, Finnians and the Ocean View Hotel.
Steve Hunt of Hunt Hospitality stated “I am delighted to add the Imperial to our fund of hotels and am really looking forward to making this hotel an integral party of the Maitland community by offering an upgraded food and beverage offering and sponsoring many different community, sporting groups and charities from the local area”
