Australian Venue Co. has invested further in regional Victoria by acquiring popular West Wodonga pub Birallee Tavern. The off market sale was negotiated by Dan McDonald Managing Director McDonald Hospitality Brokers.
Paul Waterson, Australian Venue Co CEO, said the new Wodonga venue is a welcome addition to the group’s growing regional Victoria portfolio.
The pub has a bar, beer garden, indoor dining area, function room, bottle shop and gaming room.
"Birallee Tavern is a great pub and it is popular with the local community. Australian Venue Co has been investing significantly in the Victorian market and that includes regional venue acquisitions such as the Criterion Hotel in Yarrawonga.
“We are always proud to take on great local venues and Bira, as it is fondly known, is one of them.”
Australian Venue Co is looking forward to working with the local teams and to being a part of the next chapter of the venue.
AVC prides itself on its portfolio of more than 170 unique and individual venues across Australia. The group’s approach is to encourage local leadership and to tailor venues to local community tastes, supported by the group’s centralised support office, including HR, finance and marketing.
Dan McDonald Managing Director McDonald Hospitality Brokers told WILLIAMS MEDIA, “ The Birallee Tavern has such a rich history of local family operators, it was very pleasing for MHB to facilitate an off market sale of the hotel to AVC.”
“It’s such a strong performing and well run regional venue, we had confidence it would be a great fit for AVC and that the timing could work for our vendors”
