Australian Venue Co announced that it has acquired The Boundary in Brisbane’s West End.

The sale of The Boundary to AVC was negotiated by Tony Bargwanna and Taylor Morris from Savills Hotels.

Established in 1864, The Boundary is a landmark pub in West End and was given a new lease on life after a major renovation in 2018 by KP Architects. Australian Venue Co operates more than 90 pubs in Queensland, including iconic and historic venues such as The Regatta, The Wickham and Crown Hotel in Lutwyche.

The Boundary will continue to operate as usual following the acquisition today and Australian Venue Co will continue to employ all venue staff.

Australian Venue Co has been operating in Queensland since 2017 and acquired Spirit Hotels’ 88 venues across the state in 2019. AVC has invested heavily in the Queensland venues, with a number of multi-million dollar renovations since entering Queensland, several of which are currently underway.

Australian Venue Co CEO Paul Waterson said the acquisitions reflect the group’s strong track record of operating venues in Queensland and its confidence in the Sunshine State’s hospitality outlook.

A spokesperson for The Boundary added: As only the third freehold owner of the Boundary since 1864, it has been a privilege, and although we as publicans run the hotel over the years we are really just  custodians trying to offer the best we can. The hotel has got its own character, and years of history making it unique. Australian Venue Co and its joint venture Queensland Venue Co currently operate more than 90 venues in Queensland, including The Regatta, Fridays Riverside, Riverland, Crown Hotel in Lutwyche and The Wallaby Hotel on the Gold Coast.
