The iconic Scamander Beach Resort in Tasmania is being offered for sale by JLL Hotels & Hospitality’s Senior Vice President Gareth Closter & Vice President Nick MacFie in conjunction with Knight Frank Tasmania’s Charles Black & John Blacklow.

Occupying premium real estate on the coastline between St Marys and St Helens, the 60-room hotel incorporates two accommodation wings and includes a fully licensed bar, bottleshop and restaurant providing a diverse range of income streams.

“The resort boasts river and ocean views and is positioned along the Eastern Coastal Drive, being one of the largest accommodation offerings on the eastern coast, Scamander Beach Resort is one of very few properties that can accommodate local holiday makers, families and substantial bus and tour groups” said JLL’s Gareth Closter.

When commenting on the sale, John Blacklow added, “The property was recently refurbished in 2020 and has been well received by the market, currently in its trade up period.”

“We are seeing unprecedented interest in the hotel/resort sector in regional parts of Australia given the high yields and strong returns they offer. The Scamander Beach Resort is testament to this providing an EBITDA of approximately $812,000”, said Gareth Closter.

Nick MacFie also added, “We expect to receive substantial interest from both local groups and mainland Australian buyers, especially given that assets like this in regional Tasmania command higher yield profiles.”
