The Tasman, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart has been recognised as one of the world’s best hotels by global luxury travel bible, Condé Nast Traveler. The 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards lists The Tasman as one of the top hotels in Australia and New Zealand, cementing the hotel’s place on the list following ranking number one in 2022.
The Readers’ Choice Awards boasts an unparalleled legacy as the travel industry’s oldest and most prestigious accolade. More than 520,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers rated their travel experiences across the globe to generate a must visit list of hotels and destinations.
“It is an honour to be acknowledged once again by such a prestigious publication (Conde Nast Traveler) as the best hotel offering in the state of Tasmania. It affirms our hyper localised approach to creating an hotel experience like no other in the region and boosts the team to keep on building on our already solid foundation,” says Stephen Morahan, General Manager of The Tasman.
“The Tasman brings the local character of Hobart to life, connecting the city’s pioneering past to the contemporary culture and captivating scenery. Our Golden Key Concierge service enables guests to explore a personalised itinerary of the epicurean highlights of the city and wilderness of the island.”
The hotel, just steps from famous Salamanca Markets, St David’s Park and the vibrant waterfront of Sullivan’s Cove, offers a distinct architectural experience blending the historical legacy with a striking modern vision. Guests experience three eras of design from the original 1840s heritage building to the understated luxury of the Art Deco building, to the modern glass ensconced Pavilion boasting sweeping views of the Derwent River.
This inspired hotel experience is topped off by a superb epicurean offering. Renowned Tasmanian chef, Massimo Mele oversees award-winning restaurant Peppina, a must visit restaurant for locals and guests alike. While the hotel’s cocktail bar, Mary Mary offers an intimate and sophisticated experience hidden within the original sandstone building.
Sister property, Kittawa Lodge, King Island, Tasmania, placed second in the Resort category. Earlier this year The Tasman and Kittawa Lodge unveiled The Ultimate City To Island Adventure, pairing Hobart with a visit to the wild and remote King Island for an unsurpassable Tasmanian combination.
The 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards are published on Condé Nast Traveler’s website at cntraveler.com/rca and celebrated in the November issue.
