As millennial tastes have risen to prominence in the hospitality world, scores of hotels have made overtures to new ways of working. 

One of the buzzwords we heard a lot in 2018 was “ancillaries” – meaning all of the extra services and products linked to the travel experience. 

Hotels – at least some of them – are doing away with the hallowed institution of the front desk.

The world of hotels is a lot like the world of fashion. Every year, new trends and styles come sashaying down the catwalk. Some are eye-catching, some are puzzling, and some are downright ridiculous – depending on who you ask.

Did you know that Instagram currently has around one billion active users, with higher rates of engagement than Facebook?

As hoteliers, we often look for direct ways to stimulate the outcomes we want, whether it’s a new promotion or a renovation to the physical space.

Now that 2020 is right around the corner, we can safely say that Internet is the single greater driver of change for any industry you care to mention.

Striking the right balance between luxury and practicality is always a work in progress. Depending on your brand and star rating, that balance will shift.
