Vanuatu’s Prime Minister, Charlot Salwai, was among the dignitaries to celebrate the official opening of Ramada Resort Port Vila, Wyndham Hotel Group’s first property in the island nation.
Today’s official opening was attended by Prime Minister Salwai, Tourism Minister Joe Natuman, Finance Minister Gaetan Pikioune, Port Vila Mayor Ulrich Sumptho, senior officials from the Vanuatu Tourism Office, resort Managing Director George Dechaineux and Wyndham Hotel Group Vice President Acquisitions and Business Development David Wray.
Open for a matter of weeks, Ramada Resort Port Vila already has a rating of four-and-a-half stars from reviewers on TripAdvisor and eight-and-a-half out of 10 on booking.com. Reviewers praise the size and layout of the rooms, the professionalism of staff and the breathtaking location on the cliffs of Erakor Lagoon.
Boasting stunning views of the lagoon’s clear waters and Erakor Island’s white sand beaches, the popular 80-room resort is ideally located just outside Vanuatu’s capital, Port Vila, and a convenient 15 minutes from Bauerfield International Airport.
Erakor Lagoon is an ideal destination for snorkelling, with a brilliant array of sea life including tropical fish, coral, starfish, sea horses and sea cucumbers. Ramada Resort Port Vila guests have complimentary use of snorkelling equipment and kayaks on the lagoon.
“This resort is a strategic acquisition that builds the diversity of our portfolio and the range of personalised and memorable experiences we can offer guests,” Mr Wray said.
“Wyndham Hotel Group’s portfolio has expanded rapidly in the past two years across South East Asia and the Pacific Rim and Ramada Resort Port Vila now gives us a presence in 15 countries across the region.”
The resort offers generous studio rooms, junior suites and two-bedroom suites, all with balconies and panoramic views of the lagoon, air conditioning, kitchenette and satellite television with 30 international channels.
The onsite restaurant, Akiriki, serves traditional favourites and international dishes using local produce and ingredients, while the resort’s conference facilities are suitable for 140 delegates. Travellers have also been impressed with the showpiece pool and swim-up pool bar.
The AUD $30 million resort currently employs 90 staff, and Mr Dechaineux said the presence of the Ramada brand in Vanuatu is a milestone for the local economy.
“Our staff aim to show guests just how friendly, authentic and beautiful Vanuatu is and they are thrilled by the positive feedback they have received so far. We continue to aim for excellence in every interaction with our guests and are confident that our customer service will hit even greater heights.”
