Following the opening of the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour in October last year, Australia's largest private hotel owner Dr Jerry Schwartz, is preparing for his latest opening this August when the Four Points by Sheraton opens at Central Park.
The hottest hotel opening in Sydney in 2018 is set to be the launch of the Four Points by Sheraton, which is being built on Broadway in the heart of Sydney’s buzzy Central Park precinct.
After turning his $350 million investment in the development of the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour into a $500 million asset when the hotel opened in October last year, Dr Schwartz will be hoping to have similar good fortune with the Marriott-managed Four Points.
The hotel will be the only major international hotel opening in Sydney in 2018, and the 297 rooms will be welcomed in particular by the International Convention Centre, which has a full itinerary of major national and international conferences and events throughout the second half of the year
The Four Points is close to Sydney’s Central Station and will add international-standard accommodation to the award-winning Central Park precinct – a spectacular mixed-use project consisting of appealing retail space, stylish apartments, cool office spaces, restaurants, bars and student accommodation.
Situated at the heart of Sydney’s trendy and emerging Chippendale and Broadway suburbs, and adjacent to the University of Technology Sydney and University of Notre Dame, the Four Points by Sheraton Sydney is located within the western tower of the Foster + Partners-designed DUO development on the corner of Abercrombie Street and Broadway.
The hotel will be linked to the centre of Sydney city through the new light railway, while the airport, Darling Harbour and eastern suburbs beaches are all easily accessible from the hotel.
Designed by internationally acclaimed British architecture firm Foster + Partners, Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Central Park will feature 297 guest rooms, a bar and lounge with an outdoor terrace, a restaurant, nearly 550 square metres of function space, a fitness centre, and convenient parking facilities.
About the Central Park Precinct
Central Park occupies nearly 6 hectares on the site of the former Carlton and United Brewery on Broadway. It is an urban development project that will be a residential area, with some offices, shops and cafés owned and managed by Frasers Property.
Kensington Street is the restaurant and entertainment heart of the area, drawing on the best influences of Newtown and Darlinghurst, with a vibrant collection bars, cafes, shops and galleries, including one of Sydney’s most renowned – White Rabbit.
The $2 billion project has achieved a high environmental rating, with an on-site tri-generation system for power, heating and cooling – the largest urban development in Australia to include this system. Rainwater is captured and re-used for non-drinking purposes, while green rooftops and solar powered public spaces also contribute to the site's sustainable effort.
A main walking and cycling path runs through the centre of the park connecting Balfour Street across to Broadway and joining Jones Street with UTS.
